Job Description: Coding Specialist for Health Information Management Opportunity
Are you a Facility IP coder with experience at a level II Trauma center? We are currently seeking (3) Coding Specialists who excel in coding all discharge departments, have extensive experience with Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI), and are comfortable with querying.
Responsibilities
- Assign ICD-10-CM diagnostic/procedure PCS codes on clinical encounters in compliance with regulatory and CMS Official Guidelines
- Provide intermediate inpatient support in Health Information Management department
- Code for various discharge departments such as Postpartum, Newborn, NICU, Ortho, Cardiac ICU, Nephrology, Neurosciences, and more
- Ensure adherence to CMS Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting
- Translate diagnostic statements, physician orders, and documentation accurately for coding purposes
- Identify appropriate charges based on documentation and coding guidelines
- Collaborate with HIM staff for physician clarification process when needed
- Interpret and apply AHA Official Coding Guidelines and documentation guidelines
- Stay updated on current ICD-10-CM coding guidelines and regulatory changes
- Proficiently use CPT Assistant and HCPCS coding manuals
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives
- Meet or exceed productivity and quality standards set by department Leadership
Skills And Certifications Required
- Minimum of 5 years inpatient coding experience
- Experience in acute care facility and/or Trauma Level II coding preferred
- AAPC, AHIMA, or Certified Coding credential required
Compensation
- Base Salary: USD $56,056 to $78,478
- Full-time position
- Full benefits offered
- No relocation assistance, commission, bonus, or overtime eligibility
- Interview travel not reimbursed
